About Us


We would like to welcome you to Career Services, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s provider of career information, advice and occupational guidance. Whether you are participating in one of our many helpful programs or networking with area professionals at a job fair, Career Services can help you achieve your vocational goals.

As the world economy is constantly changing, the need for you to be equipped and ready for opportunities is imperative throughout your educational process. Employers are now focusing on internships/relevant experiences as the main instrument for hiring students beyond graduation. Let us assist you in developing professional skills and experience during your academic career at UW Oshkosh.

 

Career Services encourages, supports and advances career and professional development for current students through the acquisition of knowledge, practice of skills, and reflection on experience. Career Services fosters student success by establishing productive relationships with academic departments, employers, and alumni.

 

 

Career Services will continue to be a centralized office that integrates the career implementation process with career coaching and technologies to educate our students with the necessary skills needed to transition from college to career and beyond.

Liberal Arts Education We value providing individual career coaching as well as educational opportunities for current students to market their integrated learning, personal and social responsibility, and intellectual and practical skills.

Customer Service – We provide the highest level of customer service for our constituents (students, faculty, employers, and alumni) through partnerships that assist in meeting their unique goals and objectives.  We also embrace the FISH! philosophy in providing services, events, and information to our constituents.

Be There – is being emotionally present for people. It’s a powerful message of respect that improves communication and strengthens relationships.

Play – taps into your natural way of being creative, enthusiastic and having fun. Play is the spirit that drives the curious mind, as in “Let’s play with that idea!” It’s a mindset you can bring to everything you do.

Make Their Day – is finding simple ways to serve or delight people in a meaningful, memorable way. It’s about contributing to someone else’s life, not because you want something out of it, but because that’s the person you want to be.

Choose Your Attitude – means taking responsibility for how you respond to what life throws at you. Once you are aware that your choice impacts everyone around you, you can ask yourself, “Is my attitude helping my team or my customers? Is it helping me to be the person I want to be?”

While our offices are open during this time, please call to schedule services.

Resume/LinkedIn Drop-Ins

These are 15-minute meetings with a professional Career Services staff member to review your resume/LinkedIn profile or to ask questions that will not necessitate a full appointment. They are held every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday  9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  and Thursday 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Drop-ins are only available when classes are in-session during the fall & spring terms.

Career Closet

The Career Closet will be open for student browsing anytime that the Career Services office is open. We just ask that you check-in at the front desk before browsing the inventory. Students may take 4 items to keep for free every semester including summer. Please check-out at the front desk before leaving with your items.
